Guides

Hiring a guide is an excellent way to discover the best skiing, gain confidence off piste and be given invaluable tips, especially if you are lucky enough to ski with Jean Marie Olianti (see last paragraph). A guide can take you to places in the mountains that you never knew existed and where it would be unwise to explore alone. Your guide also knows where the best snow is and has priority in lift queues.

If you want to explore a large ski area such as Chamonix, hiring a guide and splitting the cost between a few of you is an excellent way to discover the best skiing.  This way you can avoid  wasting time looking at piste maps and working out which lifts will take you where.  Your guide will know where the best snow is and the best route for the weather conditions of the day. Add to this the fact that you will be able to jump the lift queues as well and the advantages are obvious.

Skiing with a guide will improve your skiing, especially if you are stuck on an intermediate plateau. In Chamonix vast new areas then open up to you and the mountains just get bigger........

Ski Touring or Ski de Randonnée

The glaciated mountains of the Mont Blanc Massif and the Chamonix Valley provide a wonderful area for ski touring.  This involves travelling over the mountains on skis, the terrain varying from very steep to flat, with the skier's heels free to achieve a walking motion when ascending and traversing. It demands a high level of fitness and allows one to escape the crowds and experience spectacular skiing.

Booking a Guide and Guide Fees

All your guiding can be booked through our office and at certain peak periods advance booking is strongly recommended. The fees per day are approximately 490€ per day and 350€ per half day, depending on the itinerary and numbers in the group.

Of course we have our in-house professional mountain guide, Jean Marie Olianti, who has enormous experience in the mountains (winter and summer) and what's more, in the kitchens of various Michelin starred restaurants as a chef.  Ask him about the Roux brothers next time you ski with him!  Some of his stories are told in the EasyJet magazine. If you would like to contact Jean Marie Olianti about guiding he can be reached by email on
